Tips Diet
Your body's metabolism rate slows down at night and does not speed up again
until you eat something. If you wait until lunch to eat, that is 4 or more
hours that your body is burning calories at a lower rate. Eat something soon
after you get out of bed and your body will burn calories at a higher rate
until lunch. Also, don't go more than about 5 hours during the day without
eating. That causes you to eat more at meal time. Eat healthy, low-fat snacks
in between meals is you are going to go more than 5 hours without a meal
2) Right after eating a meal, especially dinner, go straight to the bathroom
to brush, floss, and mouthwash so that your mouth is feeling nice and clean-
this makes it less appealing to eat more (especially before
bedtime)
3) If you get hungry you should chew gum. Some people just like to chew
things. Chew gum while preparing meals or making lunch for the next day, to
prevent you from nibbling food while it is right in front of you.
4) I have noticed that if you eat your meals away from the T.V. and other
distracting places that you will enjoy your meal better and will take a
little longer to eat the meal. Also drink at least 2 glasses of water or one
glass of milk during your meal and you will feel fuller causing you to not go
back for seconds.(note: i suggest water, if drinking milk make it skim milk)
5) Weight in pounds multipled by 15 will equal the number of calories per day
to maintain that weight. 500 calories less per day will result in approx 1 lb
weight loss per week; 750 calories = 1 1/2 lbs per week; 1000 calories = 2 lbs
per week. Keep a daily diary of calorie intake. Fat, carbohydrates and protein
will automaticly adjust themselves to stay within alloted calories per day.
6) Keep healthy foods handy like fruit or vegetables in the fridge. Eat only
if hungry.
7) Keep a diary of your eating and your feelings, far away from the kitchen.
Document everything that you eat before you eat it. Describe how you feel
health wise as you progress. Describe how you feel when you cheat your self.
8) Soups are a great meal, they are filling, tasty, and healthy. *Soups may
be a good and filling meal, but healthy is debatable. Just look at the amount
of sodium in the most popular brands. Even the low sodium brands have more
in them than most other types of meals (with half the taste).
9) Never starve yourself, especially before going out to eat (or you will
binge). Never skip meals, you must have some kind of nourishment regularly
or your body's starvation defenses will kick in,lower your metabolism, and
store fat. Use nutritional meal replacements instead of skipping or eating
very low calorie meals.
10) Don't think that just because you are eating low fat/low calorie foods
that you can eat all that you want. The calories still add up and must be
burned off regardless of what kind of food you eat. Balance is key

Halloween pet safety tips
First off, if you are one of the 10 percent of Halloweeners that are putting your pet in a costume, make sure it fits properly, doesn't obstruct seeing, hearing or breathing, and that it has no small pieces that could be broken off or be swallowed.
On top of that, the AKC recommends you be careful about any open flames, inside or outside. Make sure candles and jack-o-lanterns are kept where neither the dog, nor the costume might come in contact with them.
Keep chocolate and other candies out of your pets' reach. Chocolate can be toxic for dogs, and other candies and gums contain large amounts of the sweetener xylitol, which can be toxic to pets, especially dogs, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruely to Animals. Ingestion can produce a fairly sudden drop in blood sugar. It's a good idea to keep pets away from candy wrappers as well, the ASPCA says.
The AKC recommends getting your walk in early. That will lessen the chance of your dog getting into any discarded candy, or the remnants of any pranks, such as broken eggs. It also lessens the possibility that so many loud children in strange costumes will freak him out.
If your dog is going to greet trick or treaters -- as my dog Ace insists on doing -- be sure to keep him on a leash, the AKC says, and don't leave him unattended outside, even if he is behind a fence.
The ASPCA says it's a good idea to keep any extra close eye on pets, and to be sure your pet is wearing his tags. With all the opening and closing of the front door on Halloween, it increases the chances of dogs escaping and getting lost.

Tips for innovation success
Matt Bross, BT's chief technology officer, said that his firm uses a combination of external and internal innovation to drive new projects. The telecoms giant has “innovation scouts” who research new ideas in locations such as Israel, China, Shanghai and Malaysia, while internally there is an innovation box for ideas.
Innovation must now take place “at the speed of people’s lives", Bross advised. He added that rather than focusing on building up a product portfolio, it is important to create innovations that are relevant to people and take account of the way they live. “Everything that I am driving in terms of the innovation agenda at BT is meeting people where they live, work and play,” Bross said.
Today, when discussion turns to innovation, “there is a lot of talk about what I would call invention", Bross said. “Invention is really interesting, but it becomes innovation when it enhances the quality of the person’s life,” he added.
For instance, BT is driving open innovation in its recent work with FON, using BT’s science and technology to enable shared Wi-Fi connections, Bross said. This uses broadband lines inside people’s homes to create a community resource while keeping the home line secure. This open Wi-Fi approach takes away the frustration of logging on and is an innovation "at the speed of people’s lives", Bross explained.
Also speaking at the event, Procter and Gamble vice-president, Jeff Weedman, advised delegates that a key part of finding new ideas was to remain “indifferent” to where they came from.
Nokia’s Stephen Johnston added that businesses should no longer just release products to their own schedule. Instead, they should follow the market, conduct research and “let go of engineering control,” he explained.

Safe online for kids
"I discovered that the boogey man is real, and that he lives on the Web," she told congress Thursday at a judiciary committee hearing called to consider toughening online sexual predator laws.
But as nightmarish as Kozakiewicz story may be, it would be a mistake to focus only on these rare tragedies, says Larry Magid, a board member of the Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the founder of Safekids.com and Connectsafely.org.
In Pictures: Seven Tips For Keeping Kids Safe Online
"I'm definitely not saying this didn't happen, and that it's not tragic. But we shouldn't take this case and make this seem like a common occurrence," Magid says. "This kind of thing is probably as rare as being molested by a member of Congress."
In recent months, sites like MySpace and Facebook have been the targets of investigations by several state attorneys general seeking to purge sexual predators from the sites. MySpace has responded by deleting the accounts of 29,000 users whose personal details match them with records of sex offenders, and Facebook agreed this week to comply with a two-year investigation that will track incidents of pornography and sexual advances on the site.
Magid argues the focus on sexual predators on social networking sites is largely political grandstanding. Much less sensational, and far more common, he contends, are cases where kids simply post too much sensitive or compromising information about themselves on social networks or blogs, leading to incidents of cyberbullying and embarrassment. Even email can be a source of trouble if used without discretion, he says.
"Say a girl sends her boyfriend compromising photos. Two weeks later, he's no longer her boyfriend, and two weeks after that, he's angry at her and posts the photo online," Magid says. "That's not physically harmful, but it can be psychologically devastating to a young girl."
Adam Thierer of the Progress and Freedom Foundation agrees that education has to be the first step in protecting kids in cyberspace. "We're doing a horrendous job in this country of educating our kid about how to behave online," he argues. "We give them so many messages about drinking, sex, even fatty foods. But when it comes to online safety, we throw them into the deep end of the pool."
To fill that Internet education gap, Magid and Thierer offer a few simple tips. Most importantly, talk to your kids about what should and shouldn't be publicly posted on the Internet. Be sure they understand that personal details like addresses and phone numbers, as well as private photos, should stay offline.
Also, consider placing any computers in the house in a "public" place, like the family room or living room, rather than a child's bedroom. This tactic doesn't just let parents keep Web browsing safe and open, it also helps parents limit the time kids spend online and encourages offline activities like sports or socializing.
One tool Magid advises parents to use with caution, however, is Web filtering software like Net Nanny or Cybersitter, which block objectionable content online. For teens, he says, such software inspires resentment and only leads to kids looking for other sources of Internet access, like a friend's computer. As cellphones become smarter, they may also offer kids a surreptitious avenue to the Web.
For younger kids, an easier way to keep Web surfing safe may be an emerging group of social networking sites aimed at preteens. Disney's Club Penguin is a social network and virtual world for kids ages 6 to 14. On settings aimed at its youngest demographic, the game only allows players to communicate using pre-set phrases, making obscenities or other inappropriate content impossible. Even on its settings for older users, the site employs teams of moderators to identify and ban any user spouting less-than-innocent language.
Another site that mimics Myspace for young teens and tweens is Imbee.com. Imbee's creator Jeanette Symons says the site is designed to bring real-world friendships onto the Web, not vice versa. Only a child's direct friends can view his or her profile, and parents are alerted whenever a new friend is added.
"Younger kids are seeing what older kids are doing with MySpace and Facebook, and of course, they want to mimic it. The problem is that they don’t' have the concepts yet to be able to realistically protect themselves," she says. "Imbee gives them social networking without the risks."
Symons created the site about a year ago, after her 6-year-old daughter demanded she be allowed to join MySpace. Symons wisely refused that request, and instead built her own social network, hosted on a server in her closet. Soon, many neighborhood kids had joined. Today, the site has more than 50,000 registered accounts.
Echoing Larry Magid, Symons says the rare threat of sexual predators has, in some ways, obscured the more common problem of kids' indiscreetly publishing personal information on the Web.
"I don't realistically think that predators are much worse online than they are in real life," Symons says. "The thing I worry about is that whatever kids publish today can stick with them for the rest of their lives. Once you publish on the Internet, it's there for all to see."

Tips To find the air in the room
Aileen Gagney knows what poor indoor air can do to a person's health. Once, while she was painting in an unventilated bathroom, polyurethane fumes knocked her out for 16 hours, leaving her with permanent sensitivities to chemical odors that give her migraines and breathing difficulties. Gagney, 52, now trains volunteers at the American Lung Association of the Northwest in Seattle to conduct free home checkups, aimed at reducing allergies, asthma, and hidden airborne dangers. "Around October we start getting a lot of calls," says Gagney. "People shut their windows and suddenly feel sick."
Improvements can be quick and easy — 87% of the families visited by Gagney's volunteers make at least one change to freshen their air. So we asked her, and other health researchers and housing experts, to reveal common mistakes you're probably making--plus the solutions that help you breathe easy.
Mistake: You clean your clothes dryer's lint trap — but ignore the exhaust pipe.
Eliminating buildup in the filter solves only half the problem: If the exhaust pipe is clogged, lint can escape through cracks, says contractor Tim Carter of AsktheBuilder.com.
Fix it: Clean the pipe every 3 to 6 months. Snake a round brush with long, flexible piping (about $20 at hardware stores) into the tube to pull out lint clinging to the sides. If you can't get all the way through from one end, you may need to pull sections of the pipe apart--or hire a professional duct cleaner. Always vent your dryer to an open outdoor area: "Moisture spilling into an attic or under a dark porch is the perfect invitation for mold," says Carter.
Ditch it: Dryer sheets Most fabric softeners are full of phthalates, chloroform, camphor, and other chemicals that can damage the respiratory, nervous, and reproductive systems, according to the EPA. Their fumes are released through a dryer's vent--and because the substances on the sheets aren't rinsed out as with the liquid kind, clothes stay coated with the toxins.
Mistake: You run a bathroom fan — only when you shower.
Condensation is the biggest problem in household bathrooms, and mold can flourish in the shower, between tiles, and behind the toilet. Your exhaust fan should send moisture outside during and after a hot shower.
Fix it: Add a timer. Got a fan? Great. Now connect it to a 30-minute wind-up switch that you can crank as you enter and leave the steamy bathroom. If you forget about it or leave for work, it will run its course and shut off automatically.
Install it: A fan in the kitchen Excess humidity helps dust mites thrive, so keep air moving whenever your stove, microwave, or dishwasher is producing steam. An exhaust fan above the kitchen range works best. If that's not doable, position a box fan in your window to pull hot air outside.
Mistake: You run an air purifier — without a true HEPA filter.
The wrong machine could actually harm your lungs: In several University of California, Irvine, studies, ozone-generating air purifiers (marketed to reduce pollen) were found to emit dangerous levels of the gas--which is great for the upper atmosphere, but on the ground causes shortness of breath and can aggravate asthma. And ionic air purifiers, which emit only tiny amounts of ozone, can also make the air worse when used along with lemon-scented household cleaning products that contain limonene.
Fix it: Buy a true HEPA model. Only this kind of filter (as opposed to HEPA-type) has been shown to remove 99% of airborne particles without producing harmful by-products. We like the new Honeywell HEPAClean 3-in-1 Air Purifier ($250; amazon.com), which also has a germ-fighting UV light and an odor neutralizer. HEPA purifiers in the bedroom and living areas may improve breathing for anyone with asthma or allergies to dust, mold, or pets, says Hugh Windom, MD, an associate clinical professor of allergy and immunology at the University of South Florida.
Skip it: Plug-in or desktop models "They're not powerful enough to make a difference even in the smallest room," says Windom. When buying larger units, note the square footage a purifier can treat, listed on the package.
Mistake: You change your vacuum bag when it feels full.
Vacuuming once a week will keep dust from accumulating deep in carpets, but the bag will fill up fast. A full bag reduces efficiency and can even spew dust back into the air.
Fix it: Toss bags when they're half full. It'll be a little more expensive, but you'll deposit less dust back into the air — which means the vacuum will have less to pick up from now on.
Buy it: The Hoover Windtunnel vacuum ($140; hoover.com) Its True HEPA filter traps allergens, and its green light/red light "Dirt Finder" technology tells you when a surface is really clean. (A tiny microphone listens for dirt particles rattling through its tube.) "People underestimate how long they need to vacuum," says Gagney. An initial deep clean can take 45 minutes on high-traffic carpet; following sessions may still require several strokes back and forth. As for bagless models, don't bother: "When you empty those canisters," Gagney says, "you're less than 2 feet away from all that dirt and breathing it in."
Mistake: You warm up your car — in the garage.
Even with the garage door open, it's dangerous to run an automobile in a garage--especially one attached to the house. "When you step from your house into your garage, a wall of cold air rushes through the door," says Gagney. That's when deadly carbon monoxide--or vapors from open paints, solvents, or pesticides--can make their way in.
Fix it: Reduce fumes and seal entrances. Install a self-closing door (or put springs on your existing one) so it's never left open by mistake. And make sure all doorways--and any cracks leading to the first floor or to a room above the garage--are airtight. Most importantly, never run the car in the garage.
Check it: Your furnace Faulty heating systems are the leading cause of carbon monoxide poisoning in the home, so have yours examined professionally before turning it on each year, especially if it's more than 5 years old.
Mistake: Your home's been cleared for lead — but not radon.
The dangers of lead poisoning are well-known, and lead paint has been phased out of housing construction nationwide. But few states regulate another contaminant--the leading cause of lung cancer after cigarette smoking: radon. Nearly 1 out of 15 homes in the United States is estimated to have elevated levels of the radioactive gas that can seep from soil into a home's foundation. (Find more details about your county at epa.gov/radon/zonemap.html.)
Fix it: Test your levels. Low-cost kits that measure radon for about a week are available at hardware stores or by calling (800) 767-7236. Keep windows closed and place the kit at your home's lowest surface for an accurate reading. If your levels are 4 pCi/L (picocuries per liter of air) or higher, test again.
Schedule it: An appointment with a specialist If results are the same, call your state radon office (find yours via epa.gov/radon/radontest.html) and arrange for follow-up tests. "You may need to install a ventilation system," says R. William Field, PhD, professor of occupational and environmental health at the University of Iowa. "Or it could be as simple as sealing cracks or areas where pipes enter the home."
Check these items at the door to help keep your home's air clean:
Cigarettes
It's not just smoke that dirties the air--it's the particles on smokers' clothing, too. If a guest must step outside for a cigarette, ask her to wear a "smoking jacket" that stays out in a breezeway or garage.
Dry cleaning
Traditional cleaners use perchloroethylene, a chemical shown to cause cancer in animals. Look for a shop that uses silicone or carbon dioxide instead (some are listed at greenearth cleaning.com and findco2.com)--and air your unbagged garments outside for 3 hours before putting them in your closet.
Shoes
Outside, the sun and the elements break down pesticides; when they're tracked indoors, they stick around in your carpet and make their way into the air. Keep a shoe rack and basket of slippers by the door for quick changes.
Firewood
When burned, even untreated logs release harmful gases and tiny particles that get into the lungs and bloodstream. Use your fireplace sparingly with artificial timber--like Duraflame's All Natural Firelog--or, better yet, switch to gas.
Candles
Beeswax and soy candles burn fewer chemicals than traditional paraffin wax.

Pregnancy and Back Pain - Tips to Help Reduce The Stress
There are some things you can do to reduce the pain. The first is to pay attention to your posture. As your belly grows and your center of gravity shifts, pay attention to how you are standing and walking. It is very common for women to strain the muscles with incorrect posture. Stand straight, rather than leaning backwards, keep your shoulders back and down with your buttocks tucked under. Try to keep your back in a straight position to avoid the strain that causes lower back pain.
The way you sleep can also contribute to back pain. Finding a comfortable position is challenging, at best. Use pillows to support your body and help avoid straining the back. Body pillows are helpful for some women. Others prefer several standard bed pillows. These can be placed between the knees and under the abdomen to provide additional support.
Exercise can help reduce low back pain. Prenatal yoga is beneficial for stretching the muscles and relieving tension caused by poor posture. Swimming is also beneficial for relieving back pain. In addition, regular exercise helps keep weight gain under control. The more weight that is gained, the more likely a woman is to have back pain.
If you experience back pain during your pregnancy, always speak to your health care provider. Your doctor or midwife will assess the pain and recommend steps you can take to find relief. In some cases, a chiropractor may be needed. Your doctor can make this determination and give you a referral, if needed.Massage can often help to relieve back pain. If you are thinking of trying massage, look for a massage therapist that is trained and experienced in prenatal massage. Your doctor, midwife or friend may be able to refer you to the right person. Women who find relief through massage often continue throughout the pregnancy and use massage techniques in labor as well.
A soak in a warm bath is helpful for some moms to be. Fill the bath tub with warm water and add a few drops of essential oil, such as lavender. To increase the relaxing effect, play a CD with soft music or nature sounds. Consider it treating yourself to a spa day in the comfort and convenience of your own bathroom.
If heat alone isn’t helping, try alternating heat and cold. Some women find this method to be very effective. This could be ice packs alternated with hot water bottles or heating pads. You could also soak in a hot tub and then apply an ice pack when you get out.
If you’ve tried every possible remedy and still can’t find relief, you may be tempted to take a pain reliever. There are some that are safe and effective for pregnancy. Your health care provider is the best source of information regarding pain relief. Speak to your doctor before taking any medication during pregnancy.

10 tips to increase traffic
2. Add Alexa Toolbar to your own site and let your readers know that it also blocks pop-ups!
3. Find out your competitor’s ranking. If yours is higher, display a comparative traffic graph proudly on your site with Alexa’s free traffic graph banner.
4. Alexa is owned by Amazon. The reviews done on Alexa can be a part of your Amazon profile. If you don’t have an Amazon profile, get it now!
5. If you have an associate ID, Amazon will include your ID in your link. Also, any purchases made at Amazon using the new Alexa toolbar will earn you commissions.
6. Thank your customers and well-wishers for writing good Alexa/Amazon reviews for you. You can also thank your customers by providing them a discount or a free gift. This might encourage them to be a repeat publisher for you!
7. Once you establish a friendly base with your new customers, you could request permission to re-publish the review on your own site as a testimonial. Even better if the individual/site who reviews your site is more reputed than yours, or at least as good as your own.
8. If your site traffic increased by adding affiliate products to your site, highlight it with the free dynamic Alexa traffic graph and encourage others to be your sub-affiliates. High traffic could translate into high sales.
9. Keep a track of the upcoming and current trends by visiting the global top 500 sites on Alexa’s homepage. If you want to capitalise on the difference in economies in different countries, I would recommend a thorough study of country-specific top sites.
10. Last but not the least, do visit Alexa at least once or twice a day!Tips Web host provider
Here’s the checklist for choosing the right web host provider for your weblog:
Reliability: This tops the list, because all those who consider to spend their valuable time in visiting your website are most valuable. They could be friends and family, new or repeat visitors, potential and past customers, and so on. Besides, if your traffic ranking is high, you are likely to suffer potential losses even if your host servers are down for a few hours.
Say in case of a major power failure or server breakdown, its important to have a web hosting provider, that assures you a guaranteed uptime and running.
Disk space: The amount of storage space you need versus the amount of storage provided to you by your web hosting service provider. Graphics and multimedia would eat up a lot of your space, so evaluate your own needs first.
Bandwidth and upload/download speeds: If you have too much traffic, your site needs greater bandwidth. Keep an eye on your rate of traffic increase or decrease and choose your hosting provider accordingly. Slow sites and frequently down sites are a big NO. Check your site speed graphs at peak hours and non-peak hours. Web surfers are likely to be impatient and would leave your website pages took too long to load and probably would never return.
FTP Access: FTP access, or the ability to upload your pages by email or browser is mandatory.
Operating System and programming tools: Your website should be uploaded through secure servers using the latest operating system. Most web hosts run on a UNIX based operating system, usually Linux or BSD, supported by various web applications like ASP, .NET, MS SQL, SBS for running your website. For these, you need a Window based host.
Security and backup: If you have an E-commerce website, security is most important for safe transaction and to minimize losses. Even otherwise, it is important that your web host can monitor any kind of fraudulent activity and provide secure solutions to prevent hacking your personal accounts and of course, data backups in case of any kinds of technical failures.
Pricing and support: Generally, before you buy a product or a service you would like to compare prices and read reviews. Do your homework thoroughly to keep your site up and running while you need it. Low pricing need not necessarily mean bad service, sometimes you good get services at affordable rates. Check the availability of a customer service representative for chat/phonecall round the clock.
Money-back guarantees: You can have your own pick. Many web hosts offer 30, 60 or 90 day money back guarantees for those who try their web hosting services for the first time. Some others allow you cancel your membership anytime with a prorated refund.

Are You Unhappy?Maybe cause of this
While neither universal nor all-encompassing, the joy-stealing attitudes and corresponding cures listed below are common enough to warrant a thumbtack on the wall of many lives, including my own.
1. Jealousy: Destroy the green monster by celebrating the successes of others. If your friend succeeds, celebrate his victory as your own; if your enemy succeeds, remind yourself that jealousy is self-defeating, pointless, and merely extends an enemy’s power over you.
2. Persecution Complex: Recognize that persecution is irrelevant, since you (and only you) control the outcome of your life. Every person has a stack of obstacles placed before him; success hinges upon your ability to overcome the obstacles in your path, persecution or no.
3. Lack of Accountability: We may not control every bad thing that happens to us, but we do control how we react to those bad things. Instead of passing the buck, take responsibility for every failure so you can learn and grow.
4. Perfectionism: Stop nit picking. Perfection is rarely attainable and seldom necessary. You’re a person, not a robot. Use the 80/20 Rule whenever appropriate.
5. Excessive Reasoning: Man is blessed with a marvelous and astounding ability to reason. At its best, this ability facilitates accomplishment; at its worst, it causes spirals of perfectionism, over-thinking, and paralysis by analysis. If it’s clear you’re in a situation that cannot be improved through logic and reason, learn to let go.
6. Negativism: Remind yourself that there are just as many positive forces in the world as negative ones; your fixation on the negative is a matter of perspective and choice.
7. Assuming the Worst of Others: There is a fine line between guarding against a realistic threat and being needlessly defensive. Make sure you haven’t crossed that line. Whenever possible, give people the benefit of the doubt
Assuming the Worst of Others: There is a fine line between guarding against a realistic threat and being needlessly defensive. Make sure you haven’t crossed that line. Whenever possible, give people the benefit of the doubt.
8. Low Self-Esteem: Raise your self-esteem by recognizing your accomplishments and positive qualities; further boost it by correcting the problem areas that drag you down.
9. Low Self-Efficacy: Self-efficacy is defined as faith in your ability to achieve a desired outcome. To overcome low self-efficacy, master the skills required to reach your objective. Practice, practice, practice.
10. Feelings of Meaninglessness: Inject meaning into your life by learning to follow your passion: that internal compass, guiding you toward fulfillment. Read my synergy series of articles for more information; if you disagree with my approach for discovering purpose, pioneer your own.
Unhappiness is both self-defined and self-imposed (meaning a person who believes himself happy is), so if you’re capable of controlling your mental state without examining its constituent elements, I stand in awe of your mental abilities and politely leave you to your devices.
On the other hand, if you’re like most people I’ve known (myself included) and occasionally feel unhappy for reasons that cannot be swept under the rug, review this list of 10 self-destructive attitudes and corresponding cures.
By understanding the source of your unhappiness, you can take the steps required to climb out of the hole of despair and into the sunlight of happiness.
